[[ooc; In this meeting: Carla will introduce your girlface to Rex, give her a key to the apartment, discuss payment and deliver any other instructions she deems needed. Dog-walking duties are to be shared with Mindy, which Carla will explain.]]
[Whenever it is the girl knocks on the door, a voice will call out that she is coming and a dog will yip eagerly, though the time between then and the door opening will stretch. The reason for the delay is obvious, as Carla seems to have been badly injured recently. One broken leg, one broken arm, stitches across her brow and a host of other very recent wounds. She'd prefer not to talk about that right now though, and just hobbles back on her crutches to sit at the large kitchen table. The 'dog,' still juvenile in size, sits down next to her chair politely, but is clearly eager to snuffle the visitor.]
[Shortly after receiving the text, Gazelle's reply comes:]
sure be right there!
[The time between then and when she gives a couple of knocks on the door is fairly short, too, considering she has a pair of motorized skates from her world. When Carla finally answers in her wounded state, this girl gives a brief look of surprise; but steps in without commenting on it. She smiles when introduced to the dog and bends down to hold out her hand towards Rex, eyes keeping on Carla though.]
[Carla gives Rex a nudge, encouraging him to go say hello. If the dog really didn't seem to get on with the girl, then she wouldn't hire her, but it seemed unlikely. He tended to love just about anyone and goes to mush his nose into her hand, tail wagging.]
I don't know his breed, we brought him back from the desert.
[But talking about 'we' mostly just reminds her why she has to hire someone to take care of Rex for her and she moves on bluntly.]
Two of you responded about the position, and I'd like you both. Hopefully, between you and myself he'll be alright, even when there's a curse. The other girl's name is Mindy, I'll give you her number. You can sort the schedule out between yourselves.
If you don't know what he is, then he must be special.
[Gazelle really liked animals so when Rex came on over, she smiled down at the pup and was more than happy to give him as much attention as he could want. Though firstly, she allowed him to sniff her hand or whatever it is dogs do upon meeting someone new. And then secondly, she brushed her hand over his head to pet his back repeatly. But she was still attentively listening to everything told to her, nodding at a few key points and finally looking up again after. She was fine with working with someone else to make a schedule, but there were one or two questions left on her mind.]
So aside from that, that's it? Just walk and feed him and keep him safe from the curses? [No other catch?]
He's fully in your charge. Whatever else he needs, I'll leave money.
[She picks up a brown-paper envelope, the rectangle tucked closed. Something jingles inside when she holds it out, a key to the apartment and several violet pieces.]
[Giving Rex a final pat to the head, she stands up to accept the envelope and open it to eye its contents briefly. She didn't care about the money or anything, but she was curious nonetheless. Seeing that the key to the apartment was inside also, she closed it, satisfied. Now she needn't have to awkwardly ask about getting into the place or bother Carla with having to get up to come to the door, etc, etc. But there was one last thing.]
All I need now is that other girl's number. What is it?
[Carla recites the number, rather than write it down. Even when one of her arms wasn't in a cast, she had terrible motor function in her hands. Anything she wrote down was nigh on illegible from the shaking.]
There's food in the cabinets. [She nods towards the kitchen.] And canned food in the fridge.
[The last item on her list is the leash lying over the arm of the couch, and she motions to that with a hand.]
[That's okay, because Gazelle grabs the cell phone hanging around her neck and inputs the number into it. Her fingers do the work as her eyes follow the other's nod toward the kitchen and hand motion toward the couch easily enough.]
Ah, don't worry. I won't let him pull me around. Wouldn't want him to get hurt that way.
[And as a quick comment (she doesn't really expect a reply from) to the dog:] Right?
